PUI YING RICHMOND
CHINESE SCHOOL
In 2001, Pui Ying Christian Services Society established Pui Ying McNair Chinese School of and Hugh Boyd Chinese School in Richmond. In 2006, the two schools merged to become Pui Ying Richmond Chinese School and moved to Richmond Alliance Church for classes. In 2009, Pui Ying Christian Services Society relocates its office from Vancouver to Richmond; Pui Ying Richmond Chinese School also moves to the office premises for classes.
Over the years, Principal Vivian He, Principal Hao Zhen and Principal Susanna Lui, who is the current principal and the teachers have contributed greatly to the development of the school. Pui Ying Richmond Chinese School is now offering classes from kindergarten to high school level.
Currently, many students attending the school come from non-Chinese speaking families. They find learning the Chinese language difficult. To make the lessons fun and interesting, teachers use activities such as singing, games, drawing and conversational exercises for teaching. The training of listening and oral skills is emphasized. Although there are challenges to overcome, we are committed to make a difference and to promote Chinese culture.
