CARLETON
Pui Ying Carleton Chinese School was established in 1998 at the request of a group of parents from Sir Guy Carleton Elementary School. They were keen to invite Pui Ying Christian Services Society to start a Chinese language program in their school, hoping that their children could stay after school to learn Chinese and its culture. Currently, Mandarin and Cantonese classes ranging from kindergarten to elementary level are offered.
Our curriculum is student-centered and structured to motivate students in the acquisition of the language. Teachers design supplementary teaching materials, catering to the needs and abilities of their students. A variety of learning activities are incorporated to enable students to learn with interest and to use the language with proficiency. The textbooks have been revised to include themes related to their daily lives and experience. To encourage students to communicate in Chinese, conversation and speaking skills are given much emphasis.
